You have to change the oil in your car on a regular basis or the engine fails. If you don't clean out your body from all the junk you eat and drink, it fails too. Detoxing eliminates waste in your body which eases stiff joints and gets rid of skin and digestive problems. You will also have regular bowel movements and it will strengthen your immune system to fight off colds and flu. It eliminates sugar cravings that leads to unhealthy eating that is the cause of diabetes, arthritis and obesity. I believe detoxing a few times a year can prevent cancer. Detoxing puts oxygen in your body. Disease cannot breed when there is enough oxygen in our body. You know you should detox when you are tired, get sick easily and often, have migraine headaches and a hard time concentrating.
Prepare to detox by cutting down on sugar, caffeine and alcohol the week before you start to get rid of the cravings.
Try to detox for three days the first time. If that is too much, drink the mixture below for at least a day and a half and eat fresh, organic fruits and vegetables for the next day to a day and a half. Go as long as you can over three days. Once you get the junk out of your system, it will be easier to detox next time and make it all three days.
Mix together 1/2 gallon filtered water, 1/2 cup maple syrup and fresh squeezed organic lemon. Drink only this mixture for three days.
Maple syrup is a natural sugar-sucrose. Drinking this will provide you with calcium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and iron so you will be getting nutrition while detoxing.
If you don't like maple syrup you can mix 1/2 cup honey with warm filtered water and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Honey is 80% natural sugar. It has vitamins B1 and B6, niacin, riboflavin, and some amino acids. It also has the minerals calcium copper, iron, manganese, potassium and magnesium and more.
If you feel weak while detoxing, add more honey or maple syrup to the mixture. Slowly come out of a detox. You cannot eat a meat and potatoes dinner immediately or you will put toxins back in your body and your three days of detoxing will be for nothing. Once you end the detox eat fruits and vegetables and slowly add salad, yogurt, light broth soups and then solids.
You will feel so clean after detoxing that you will not want to go back to your old way of eating. You will feel energized and your body can start to heal...as long as you continue to change your eating habits for the better.
